John Lydon Butter Deal

Sex Pistol New Country Life Face

Former enfant terrible of punk rock John Lydon is set to appear in a new advert for British butter brand County Life, it has been announced.

The Sex Pistols iconic frontman is set to appear in the new adverts. Advertising site Mad.com claims Lydon was chosen as he is a “British icon”. The advert comes after a busy summer for the singer, appearing at a number of festivals and reportedly fighting with Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke.

The resulting furore saw Lydon threaten to take members of the British media to court, with members of Kaiser Chiefs and Foals claiming that Kele Okereke’s allegations were correct.

In a statement the firm Country Life said:

“We don’t think enough people know Country Life is the only major British butter brand and John gets the message through loud and clear. He is seen as a great British icon. His independent views are part of his consumer appeal and his tongue-in-cheek sense of humour shines through in our TV advertising.”

There is currently no airing date for the John Lydon Country Life advert.
