John Cale Announces New Album ‘POPtical Illusion’

It's out on June 14th...

Music legend John Cale will release new album ‘POPtical Illusion’ on June 14th.

The Welsh-born artist has led a truly singular career, from his days in The Velvet Underground through to his staggering solo catalogue. 2023 brought studio album ‘MERCY’, a project greeted with no small degree of acclaim – and now he’s crafted a follow-up.

Out on June 14th, new album ‘POPtical Illusion’ finds John Cale pivoting once more. The record was constructed by the songwriter and longtime artistic partner Nita Scott in his Los Angeles studio, featuring 13 tracks.

New single ‘How We See The Light’ blends modern pop tropes with his inquisitive nature, resulting in something melody and open, while also gently challenging.

A curious kick-off point, ‘How We See The Light’ finds John Cale singing: “Can I close another chapter in the way we run our lives?”
