John Cale is set to return with new album ‘Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood’ later this year.
John Cale isn’t afraid to laugh at himself. The classically trained, Welsh born musician can strike an imposing figure, but during interviews the Velvet Underground legend can striking an endearing self-deprecating tone.
Which is perhaps why we’re not surprised that his new album is named ‘Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood’. Yup, that’s right: ‘Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood’.
Due for release on October 1st, the album will be available on gatefold heavyweight vinyl, CD and digital download.
Recorded in a studio in Los Angeles, the new album was seemingly born from spontaneous sessions. Experimenting with new equipment, the opening track finds John Cale collaborating with Danger Mouse.
Little else to report as yet, but with song titles such as ‘Hemingway’ and ‘Vampire Cafe’ this looks to be pretty intriguing.
