Joey Pollari Announces New Album ‘I’ll Be Romance’

It's out on April 5th...

Joey Pollari will release new album ‘I’ll Be Romance’ on April 5th.

The songwriter has a lovely, mellifluous vocal, a sonorous balm that seems to touch on vintage tropes. Reminiscent of John Grant or even Father John Misty in places, his work is set to reach new heights with this incoming album.

Out on April 5th, ‘I’ll Be Romance’ deals – as its title suggests – with matters of the heart, a work of storytelling yet also autobiography.

New single ‘So Close’ launches this chapter in his life, and it’s a highly evocative piece of songwriting. “The lover that got away makes a gap. Remember your lover? Memory is an itch. Scratch it a little and the itch makes a gap. The gap is from memory to possibility. From love to failure. Do you see your lover? Five hundred million people are missing their lovers. That’s a low-ball guess. This gap is so many people’s. This gap is gigantic. This gap is a romance. Just itch it and remember.”

The video is self-directed, and it deals with themes of emotional confrontation. He says:

I directed and conceived this video as the feel-bad cruising event of the year — when you’re cruising to want something new, but you just want what you lost. Because if cruising anonymity recalls your past, you’re up shit’s creek. And I think that’s a good place to start for this record — up shit’s creek in memory, surrounded by possibility, frozen by what you can’t get beyond yet.

Tune in now.
