Joel Culpepper and Tom Misch will unite on a new EP.
The new EP is titled ‘Happiness Is Only A Few Miles Away’, and it’s slated to land on October 27th. The two first came into contact after Tom Misch stumbled across Joel Culpepper’s song ‘Afraid To Be A King’, and dropped him a line.
The two hit it off – recording at first, before heading out on the road together. “We had a decent sesh, nothing more, nothing less really,” explains Joel. “He was working on his joint album with Yussef that I provided a few backing vocals for.”
“What felt a bit kismet is Tom and I from that point on just kept bumping into each other, quite randomly too. Both from South-East, I honestly think we were meant to be friends primarily. The music then built naturally on top of that. We became family.”
Out on October 27th, the EP is a true union of souls. New song ‘Free’ is a hazy late summer jammer, a breezy slice of jazz-leaning soul that operates perfectly in the club, or as a headphone listen.
