Joe Lean Part Ways With Record Label

New album expected in 2010

One time indie hot young things Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong have parted ways with their record label.

Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong arrived with a barrel load of hype. A series of blistering shows saw the band snapped up by Mercury Records, who released a string of killer singles from the pen of Joe Lean.

With tracks such as ‘Lonely Buoy’ floating (ouch!) just outside the Top 40, it seemed as if the band were destined to crack the charts. Retreating to the recording studio, Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong were tipped to deliver the goods on their debut album.

But then… silence.

With just weeks to go before the release of their debut album Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong suddenly pulled the record. Claiming that they had evolved beyond the material on the long player, the band decided to head back into the studio.

Ongoing delays have tested the patience of their label, with the band now confirming that they have parted ways with Mercury. “It’s not so much a kind of dropping thing, (but) we’ve definitely parted ways,” Joe Lean told NME.

“It’s mutual vibes. We sat down and had a meeting.”

However the singer did promise fans that a new album would surface in 2010. “A year from now there’ll be at least an album and a few songs out,” he stated. “I’m not tired, I haven’t even started.”

Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong recently released a new track ‘One Woman’ online.
