Indie mavericks Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong have made a previous unreleased song ‘One Woman’ available as a free download.
With an unwieldy name and a habit of getting into trouble, Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong soon brought themselves a lot of attention.
Hailed as messiahs of guitar pop by some, Joe Lean’s nefarious crew were also condemned as evidence of an indie scene gone wrong. However surely it would churlish to remain unmoved by their sprightly guitar pop.
Entering the studio last year to record their debut album, hopes were high that Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong would capture the furious energy of their live shows. Completing an albums worth of material, the band then shocked onlookers by pulling their debut record from the release schedule.
Insisting they simply weren’t ready to release the album, Joe Lean claimed that his songwriting had moved on since recording took place. Making promo copies of the record instant collectors items, fans have waited over a year to find out what the band’s next step will be.
Currently recording with award winning producer Dan Carey – whose CV includes stints with Gorillaz and more – the band seem more confident with debut album Mk. II.
Now Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong are set to give away a track from the sessions. ‘One Woman’ is a stunning piece of indie pop that features the songcraft which made the band so talked about in the first place.
Available from their MySpace page now, Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong have not confirmed plans to release their debut album.
