Joanna Newsom has denied rumours that she is set to make a guest appearance in ‘The Simpsons’.
One of the most acclaimed songwriters of her generation, Joanna Newsom recently delighted fans with a new album. Even better, ‘Have One On Me’ was a triple disc collection containing often stunning new material.
Live appearances have been greeted rapturously, and just when it seemed like all things Joanna Newsom couldn’t be going any better rumours began to appear online suggesting that a guest slot in ‘The Simpsons’ was being organised.
Creator Matt Groening is a well known fan, having previously booked Joanna Newsom for an ATP event he helped to curate. However, sadly it seems that dreams of a yellow skinned Newsom are not set to come true.
In a statement issued by her publicist Joanna Newsom has denied any foundation in the recent rumours. “Regrettably, the awesome rumor of my upcoming cameo on ‘The Simpsons’ is unfounded” reports Pitchfork.
“I remain, however, steadfast as always in my commitment to the character of Lisa, whom I have of course had the privilege of voicing for the last 21 years, in my dreams. Thanks for the memories, gang!”
A real shame, but ClashMusic looks forward to several more musical cameos on the show. A quick poll of the office reveals the following highlights:
1. Homerpalooza – entire episode
2. The B-Sharps – George Harrison guest appearance
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers play in Moes
4. The Who settle a garbage dispute
5. Michael Jackson (or was it?)
6. The Ramones play Mr Burns’ birthday party
…and countless others!
