Jimothy Lacoste’s ‘I Can Speak Spanish’ Is Ludicrous, And Brilliant

It's a multi-lingual triumph...

Jimothy Lacote could never be lost in translation.

Sure, the London riser's word-play may be fixated on a certain locale – the tube system, for example – but there's something about his music that is universal.

Take 'I Can Speak Spanish'. It's so simple, so hopelessly innocent, that even someone who had never encountered Jimothy's world before could understand it.

The production nods towards PC Music, with Jimothy commenting: “I wrote the song in early January; but the instrumental I’ve actually had since early 2016. None of my lyrics were working on the beat so I decided to try out my second language on it….it seemed to fit really well.”

The video is online now, and it's a stellar watch. He continues: “The locations featured have all been the backdrop to my childhood, which included my aunties house. Also it’s not a bait part of Spain, which I think makes it more of an interesting location. The landscape is really green and buff and the weather is nice but also can be quite moody if you’re in the hills. Me on the beach in Barcelona or by the pool in Marbella wouldn’t have been an honest representation.”

Tune in now.
