Jessica Pratt will release new album ‘Here In The Pitch’ on May 3rd.
The songwriter finds inspiration in her home of Los Angeles on the new record, citing its history – and many legendary musicians – as points of reference. Out on May 3rd, the incoming LP follows her magnificent 2019 album ‘Quiet Signs’, which won outstanding acclaim.
If her previous work leaned on her passion for frosted minimalism, then ‘Here In The Pitch’ purposefully seeks out expanded arrangements. In a note, Jessica Pratt says she was drawn towards “big panoramic sounds that make you think of the ocean and California”, adding: “I became obsessed with figures emblematic of the dark side of the Californian dream while making this record”.
Out on May 3rd, the album is led by new song ‘Life Is’ – with its driving drums, and bold, colourful orchestration, its reminiscent of a old Walker Brothers single, or even The Association.
Labelled “a statement of intention” by the songwriter herself, you can check it out below.
