Jess Ribeiro has shared plans for new album ‘Summer of Love’.
The songwriter is based in Naarm/Melbourne, with art intimately reflecting her life. Out on April 12th via Labelman, new album ‘Summer Of Love’ attempts to filter through an unsettled period, a two year spell that saw Ribeiro living in nine different locations.
At one point, the artist spent six months in a church on the outside of the city, her fragmentary existence seeping into her work.
New album ‘Summer Of Love’ was constructed in a particularly fraught time – it was recorded in the small coastal town of Point Lonsdale during Melbourne’s tough, lengthy lockdown period by producer Nick Huggins.
Out on April 12th, it’s led by ‘Everything Is Now’, a track prompted by memories of her childhood. A moment of brightness, the video – directed by Nick Mckk – channels recollections of country town Chinese restaurants, where her father was a chef.
Shot in one-take, it features Jess Ribeiro alongside Naarm/Melbourne-based multi-disciplinary artist, company director and shamanistic dancer Tony Yap.
Tune in now.
