Jesca Hoop Covers… Herself

With a little help from Willy Mason

In an odd way, releasing an album is a starting point, rather than a finish.

After all, the material contained therein often shifts and evolves in the live environment, while the artists themselves often change according to tastes, moods and setting.

So perhaps Jesca Hoop can be forgiven for changing her mind so abruptly. Last year's 'Hunting My Dress' LP was an imposing introduction, but the songwriter has quickly decided to re-work the material.

Gathered on 'Undress' the singer has meticulously altered the arrangement, tweaking the meaning for each song. 'Whispering Light' is turned into a sparse, folk-influenced track with Willy Mason supplying backing vocals.

It's an intriguing re-working – there is definitely chemistry between Jesca Hoop and Willy Mason, yet the new rendition has a certain coldness, a division between parting lovers.

Check it out below.

'Undress' is set to be released on March 24th.
