Experimental musician Jean Dawson reveals his long-gestating collaboration with SZA, ‘NO SZNS’ – a stadium-sized slice of California rock riffing on destiny and seasonal inertia.
A manifestation of ‘The New American Dream’, Dawson has chronicled his backstory as a Mexican-African American, and the pursuit of his dreams and lofty goals despite the hardships he faced at home or when he had to cross the border to get to school.
Back in 2021, SZA tweeted that Dawson “is the fucking future” with a picture of the duo in what was likely the serendipitous recording session.
Watch the coming-of-age visual for ‘NO SZNS’, directed by Jean and longtime collaborator Bradley Calder…
Dawson will be opening for INTERPOL in Del Mar, CA on both October 25th and 26th and then at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on October 25th. He will also be the direct support for Lil Yachty on his upcoming ‘The Field Trip Tour’ throughout Europe, commencing November 22nd in Oslo and ending in Vienna on December 17th.
