JayWood’s ‘Thank You’ Is Dosed With Colour

His new album 'Slingshot' is incoming...

JayWood has shared his new song 'Thank You'.

The Winnipeg musician's music is dosed with colour, matching bubbling production styles with his inimitable word play.

New album 'Slingshot' is out on July 15th, and it features some familiar faces. Jacob Portrait of Unknown Mortal Orchestra co-produces new song 'Thank You', and it presents a full circle moment from JayWood.

A reflective piece, it moves beyond grief to find some kind of inner truth; there's a subtle joy to the music, fringes by elements of darkness.

“‘Thank You’ is a song that’s dedicated to the folks that aren’t really in my life anymore, but more importantly it’s for my mom who passed away back in 2019…”

“I feel like this song kinda wrote itself, it felt so easy to put together because I knew the core of what I was trying to get across. The demo for this song felt super strong but after Jake and I spent some time expanding a few ideas, the song really blossomed into something I couldn’t ever imagine.”

Chantel Simpson directed the video, which features JayWood and crew cycling through Harlem, passing out flowers to passers-by.

Tune in now.
