Rap megastar Jay-Z is set to team up with famed producer Dr Dre on a forthcoming single.
Two of the biggest names in hip hop, it’s perhaps strange that Jay-Z and Dr Dre haven’t worked together before. Both long for collaboration, and both have dominated the music industry over the past decade.
With Jay-Z basking in the glow of ‘The Blueprint 3’ the rapper has decided to hook up with one of hip hop’s most seminal producers.
The pair are to work on a single called ‘Under Pressure’ which will be taken from Dr Dre’s much anticipated new album ‘Detox’. The producer has been working on the album for some time, and has now confirmed that it will see the light of day in 2010.
“Hopefully, we’ll be releasing (‘Under Pressure’) in the next two weeks or so,” Dr Dre told CNBC. “I’m definitely gonna be putting the album out this year, finally. I think everyone is gonna be happy with it.”
Dr Dre has been working on ‘Detox’ for some time. His last solo album ‘2001’ was released in 1999, with the producer focussing on remaining behind the desk for the past decade.
Working with Eminem, Dr Dre returning to the production booth for last year’s ‘Relapse’ album. With a sequel also on the horizon, the producer could be set to dominate hip hop in 2010.
Dr Dre is due to release ‘Detox’ later this year.
