Jay-Z Talks Mid-Terms

Give Obama more time, he says

Jay-Z has urged voters in American to give Barack Obama more time after the mid term elections.

The second ‘hip hop meets politics’ story of the day! Kanye West may have had a troubled relationship with George W Bush, but Jay-Z has enjoyed an altogether warmer friendship with Barack Obama.

However the current President may have to kick the rapper to the curb, with Barack Obama left disappointed after the Stateside midterms. The Republicans won a total of 60 seats in the House Of Representatives, while also making gains in the senate.

A huge blow for the Democrats, Jay-Z has urged supporters to remain calm. Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the rapper insisted that the President’s achievements must be measured against the mess he inherited.

“In order to judge someone, you have to judge what they inherit,” he explained. “In order to get to that sort of success and that dream, you have to go through some peaks and valleys.”

Continuing, Jay-Z listed some of the problems faced by the United States before Obama’s inauguration in 2008. “In order to judge someone, you have to judge what they inherit,” he explained.

“In order to get to that sort of success and that dream, you have to go through some peaks and valleys.”

Jay-Z was a notable supporter of Barack Obama during his election campaign. However the President has a complicated relationship with hip hop, deriding some of the comments made by rappers.

Set to roll up his sleeves, the President’s job has just got a whole lot more difficult after losing the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z is putting the finishing touches to his forthcoming autobiography. Containing some insights into his life and creative process, the book is due to be released next year.
