Jay-Z Greatest Hits Due

Volume 1 to be released this summer

Rap titan Jay-Z is set to look back this summer with the release of ‘Volume 1’ of his greatest hits collection.

Emerging from the rap underground, Jay-Z is now one of the most recognisable entertainers on the planet. A seemingly unstoppably flow of hits has been combined with a financial nous which has allowed him to ascend to the top of the the game.

Made the MD of Def Jam Records, Jay-Z became one of the most powerful men in American music before Live Nation broke all records to snap the rapper up on one of the most lucrative contracts ever offered to an entertainer.

With a new label being formed just to deal with him, it was clear that Jay-Z had transcended hip hop to become universal. All that, and he still gets to walk down the red carpet with Beyonce on his arm…

Currently working on new material, Jay-Z has confirmed details of a new hits collection. The compilation The Hits Collection Vol.1′ will be released on June 29th.

Gathering some of his finest singles, the collection is laden with pulsating slices of rap music. A full tracklisting has yet to be unveiled although a player on Jay-Z’s official website contains hits such as ‘Public Service Announcement’ and ‘Where I’m From’.

The album seems to lean heavily on the recent ‘Blueprint 3’ collection, featuring singles such as ‘Empire State Of Mind’ and ‘Run This Town’.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Eminem are set to play two joint headline shows this summer in New York and Detroit. The news comes as the European festival season gears up to welcome the rap titans, with the pair set to perform at Oxegen and T In The Park.

Jay-Z’s ‘The Hits Collection Vol.1’ will be released on June 29th.
