Jarreau Vandal, Off Bloom + More Play Our Spring Issue Launch Party

Plus Lancey Foux and S4U….

Our 103rd edition of the magazine (phew!) is about to drop, and to celebrate that fact we’re throwing a party on Wednesday 29th March in East London with some of our favourite acts of the minute. We’re going to be taking over Kamio on Rivington Street for one night of live music, drinks and dancing — so come along and shed some layers with us.

Soulection’s Jarreau Vandal is over from Amsterdam to keep us rolling right through until the end. If you’ve ever caught a Jarreau set you’ll know why he’s such a coveted selector — the Dutch DJ (who recently mixed a Valentine’s themed selection for us on Feb 14th) loves all things hip-hop and R&B, with a headsy blend of house, techno and leftfield electronics too.

Anglo-Danish group Off Bloom are yet another example of the insane potential coming out of Scandinavia right now. The trio, whose influences extend from Glasgow’s electronic scene to ‘70s krautrock, are producing some of the most forward-thinking pop with a no-fucks-given attitude, and will be bringing some of that red hot attitude to Kamio’s basement.

Lancey Foux has been labelled the ‘Young Thug of East London’, and the rapper, who has recently collaborated with AJ Tracey, Kojey Radical and Jevon on ‘Wild Goat’, is an artist who truly takes a holistic approach to creativity. Influenced by new wave punk music, Lancey refuses to sit in one genre, instead flitting between alternative R&B and trap.

Finally, heavily hyped R&B collective S4U describe their sound as ‘TRANSDIMENSIONAL BOOTY BUSINESS’, and to be honest we can’t describe it any better than that. Headed up by the gloriously named Rosita Bonita and Prinz George, the East Londoners’ sound is that of ‘90s R&B (think TLC and All Saints) mixed with ghostly experimentalism.

The Clash Spring Party, held in association with Cheap Monday and Olympus, is a free event, but attendance is strictly RSVP only. To guarantee your place on the guestlist, grab a ticket via Skiddle HERE.

There’ll be a free drinks reception when doors open at 6:30pm, with refreshments kindly provided by BrewDog Punk IPA and evian.
