Jape’s ‘I Was Wrong’ Is Simple, Affecting, And Poignant

Watch the black and white video now...

Irish project Jape are ready to share the striking video for new song 'I Was Wrong'.

The band actually began life as a side project, formed by Richie Egan whilst part of The Redneck Manifesto.

Growing to build their own catalogue and develop their own voice, Jape fuse intricate yet classic-sounding songwriting with deft electronics.

New album 'sentinel' is a rich, rewarding return, emotive in its sweep while exploring fresh creative pastures.

One of the record's real highlights is the hypnotic 'I Was Wrong', a song that seems to move from pastoral Paul Simon references to gloopy Bon Iver effects via striking Hozier-style melodies.

The video is simple but enormously effective, a black and white slow-motion affair that features youths running for the lives, with an unexpected twist.

Richie Egan explains…

"For my video for 'I Was Wrong' I wanted to play with that line and simply feature a character who's done something wrong and now appears to be facing the consequences of his actions."

"The pace of the track cried out for slow motion so I decided to shoot it all in super slow (something I've never properly done before). Jape's music always has a cheeky humour to it so I wanted there to be threads of comedy in there also – but comedy that is embedded in the real world."

"It was the greatest fun to shoot, the cast was amazing and Al Hooi the DOP captured everything so beautifully. It was such a joy to make and it still makes me smile every time I watch it. "
