Jane’s Addiction are planning to release new material sometime next summer.
One of the most potent rock groups on the planet, Jane’s Addiction have not quite lost the narcotic edge which pushed them to the top of the charts. True outlaws, the band remain uniquely unpredictable.
Losing bass player Eric Avery in March, the band recruited one time Guns N Roses musician Duff McKagan. No doubt used to volatile situations, even McKagan was unprepared for the world of Jane’s Addiction.
Departing from the band after a mere six months, the bass player will be replaced for upcoming recording sessions. Jane’s Addiction have not released a new album since 2003, when ‘Strays’ reminded fans of their vital early recordings.
Since then, the band have broken up and got back together, touring the world several times. However new material has been thin on the ground, with Jane’s Addiction seemingly happy to plough the archives.
No more, however. Speaking to PopStop guitarist Dave Navaro revealed that the band are currently working on new material. “We’re actually writing quite a bit and getting ready to go into the studio in December,” he said.
“We will start recording tracks” he continued “and hopefully have something out by early next year.”
Elsewhere, Dave Navarro revealed that the connection between Jane’s Addiction runs deeper than some had suspected. In the early 90s Axl Rose contacted the guitarist about joining the band.
However the guitarist politely turned him down, citing his commitment to fellow LA sleaze types Jane’s Addiction.
Jane’s Addiction are due to release their new album next summer.
