Janes Addiction Hail Obama

President is "our point guard"

Currently touring the world preaching the gospel of funk-rock Jane’s Addiction have paused to pay tribute to newly elected President Barack Obama.

Jane’s Addiction have teamed up with Nine Inch Nails for a spectacular new tour. The pair are both seminal groups, capable of raising the roof in venues around the world. Placed side by side, and you have a recipe for rock and roll carnage.

Of course, you have to factor in that this is Nine Inch Nails’ final tour for some time. Leader Trent Reznor announced earlier this year that he was placing the band on hiatus, making the upcoming series of dates the final occasion fans will see their heroes for some time.

The twin giants of rock rolled into Southern California on May 20th to play the enormous Irvine’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.

Nine Inch Nails chose to play a fans friendly set of rarities and B-sides, with the group stripping things down to basics. The band kept things simple and the back-to-basics lineup of bassist Justin Meldal-Johnson, drummer Ilan Rubin and guitarist Robin Finck.

At one point Trent Reznor apologised for the lack of well known tracks, telling the packed arena “sorry, we’re not playing any hits tonight”.

Jane’s Addiction took to the stage to the roar of the crowd, and leaped into ‘Three Days’. Now back to their original line up the group seemed on sparkling form, ignoring a mis-firing video display.

Singer Perry Farrell asked the audience “you don’t think a silly thing like a video fuck up is gonna contain us, do you?”

Just before play ‘Ocean Size’ Farrell took time to pay tribute to newly elected United States President Barack Obama.

“We’re back on track, right America? We’ve got Obama, man. He’s our point guard.”

Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails are set to continue touring throughout the summer. in the United States the two bands will headline Chicago’s Lollapalooza, the festival that Perry Farrell helped found.

The groups will hit Europe later in the year, with Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails due to perform at T In The Park and Ireland’s biggest festival Oxegen.
