Janelle Monáe will release her new album ‘The Age Of Pleasure’ on June 9th.
The American artist has broadened their scope in recent years, taking on some high profile acting roles. A spectacular success in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Janelle recently signalled their return to music with ‘Float’.
Now the songwriter has sketched out the details of their first new album in an age – since 2018’s ‘Dirty Computer’, fact.
The 14 track album lands on June 9th, with Janelle telling Zane Lowe in an Apple Music interview: “All the songs were written from such an honest space. So I hope that people feel that when they listen to the music, that they feel that when they come and, you know, counter with me when I’m around, I definitely have had an opportunity to evolve and grow and to tap into the things that bring me pleasure, the things that perhaps I should rethink and rework.”
New single ‘Lipstick Lover’ is a saucy ode to temptation, with Janelle Monáe directing the not-quite-safe-for-work video alongside Alan Ferguson.
