Oliver Sim’s ‘GMT’ has been remixed by Jamie xx.
The two band mates cross paths on the new remix, which represents a special – and somewhat unique – moment for both parties.
Oliver Sim’s incoming album ‘Hideous Bastard’ is accompanied by a short film, blending personal revelations with themes of body horror. ‘GMT’ is a Brian Wilson sampling piece of eerie songcraft, equal parts delicious and unsettling.
Jamie xx steps in to remix his band mate, stretching ‘GMT’ out beyond the 10 minute mark, a hallucinogenic piece of dancefloor fare. Heady, trippy electronics that riff on light and dark aspects, it’s a very rare remix from the producer – he’s only released a handful previously, such as his epic Adele rework.
Featuring additional production from Floating Points, this is something very special indeed.
