Returning songwriter Jamie T have confirmed the final details of his new album ‘Kings & Queens’.
Born as simple Jamie Treays, Jamie T was musical from an early age. Writing his own songs on a beat up electric guitar, the singer combined a sharp observational tone with a rich vein of humour.
Hitting the London gig circuit Jamie T stood out due to his youth and sheer talent. A charismatic live performer the singer was soon finding himself under the media spotlight, finally signing with Virgin records.
Early singles such as ‘Salvador’ became radio hits, before his debut album ‘Panic Prevention’ was released to immense acclaim. Jamie T’s rapidly blossoming songwriting skills were captured in full flow on the album, which went on to be nominated for the Mercury music prize.
Even though he didn’t win, the exposure Jamie T gained from the event pushed him into further levels of fame. Retreating back to the rehearsal studio to work on new material, Jamie T is set to return with his second album in September.
Earlier this year new track ‘Fire Fire’ appeared on Jamie T’s website. Much more direct and punk-influenced than previous efforts, it appeared to usher in an angrier stage of Jamie T’s career.
However recent single ‘Sticks N Stones’ belies this. A bouncing summer anthem, it speaks of past friends and relationships in a tone much more resigned that should be expected of someone in their early 20s.
Featuring an inventive video, Jamie T recently sent a ‘thank you’ message to fans for supporting him. “Just a little note to say thanks to everyone who’s supporting Sticks ‘N’ Stones.”
“We just finished shooting a little video for the track the other day, so fresh out the edit room it is here for your enjoyment. It was a lot of fun to make and we hope you like it. Hope to see you all soon….. Thanks Jamie”.
