South London vocalist Jamie N Commons has returned with new electro-flecked single 'Paper Dreams'.
Recently relocating to Los Angeles, Jamie N Commons wrote this year's 'Skyscraper' single for the blockbuster film of the same name.
Heading back into the studio, 'Paper Dreams' largely eschews the blues-driven sounds he was previously known for, working instead with an electronic palette.
There's still a whiskey-soaked husk to his voice, however, with Jamie N Commons plunging head-long into these new aesthetic challenges.
He explains: “Music is supposed to be fun, that's what I want to achieve: fun, joy, levity. It doesn't mean it's not about heavy things, but it's about moving forward. It's the complete opposite of cool, it’s Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel but I love that stuff. There are moments in these songs that you remember because of the innocence. 'You Can Call Me Al', 'Dancing In The Dark'… That's what I needed in my life.”
