James Yorkston Tour Diary Due

Domino Press gets under way

James Yorkston is set to release his new tour diary ‘It’s Lovely To Be Here’ on February 3rd.

A deeply Scottish songwriter, James Yorkston never intended to become successful. Writing stark, folk influenced songs in his spare time, a CD-R on cult label Fence suddenly gained a life of its own.

Snapped up by Domino, James Yorkston combines a knowledge of folk heritage with a probing, forward thinking approach. Releasing a string of wonderful albums, the singer has a devoted audience.

Now James Yorkston is set to gather his tour diaries in book form. Whether working solo or with The Athletes, the Scottish singer is a remarkable performer whose onstage wit transfers easily to book form.

A deeply unpretentious book, ‘It’s Lovely To Be Here’ has an unusual approach to the tour diary. Gone are the long highways and glamourous blondes, and in their place a witty account of life in a tour van.

Poignant and philosophical, the book is part travelogue and partly also a search for meaning in jotted down lyrics and half-strummed chords. The first release on Domino Press, ‘It’s Lovely To Be Here’ has already charmed those who have read it.

“I’ve loved James’ music for years now and booked him repeatedly for my festivals so what a joy to have a book by the man” said Rob da Bank.

“His laidback prose is like having a conversation with an old chum sat by the fire nursing a wee dram on a windy night on some slightly desolate Scottish island. My kinda night out so thanks for the writing James!”

‘It’s Lovely To Be Here – The Touring Diaries of a Scottish Gent’ is set to be released on February 11th.
