James Murphy has spoken about the progress Arcade Fire have made with their new album.
Arcade Fire have a new album on the way. Chatting to fans on Twitter last week, the Canadian group explained that they are shooting towards a release date of October 29th (corresponding to a European release date of October 28th).
That is, if they stop writing songs. James Murphy has been close to the studio process, and recently told the NME that work on the album will continue until as close to the release date as possible: "For them, it's not finished until it's in stores."
"They're all so phenomenally talented and full of ideas so songs keep on coming," he added. "The last time I dared think it was finished I came back to the studio three days later to mix and they'd written two new songs for the album!"
Régine Chassagne fell pregnant during the sessions, but kept working "up until, like, the very final point she possibly could in the studio before giving birth. All of them, they're so committed to making this record."
As for the actual sound and feel of the new record, a typically infectious James Murphy beamed: "It sounds like Arcade Fire in the way that only Arcade Fire sound like Arcade Fire, you know? It's really fucking epic. Seriously. I mean, I feel at this point like I'm too close to it to really talk it up and do it justice. You know?"
