90’s Baggy-pop purists James will team up with fellow Radio 2 ram-raiders Athlete for an arena tour this December.

The bands have both been busy of late, with Athlete currently playing an intimate UK tour in small venues, and James releasing their tenth album ‘Hey Ma’ earlier this year.

The album found James in the midst of controversy following The Sun newspaper objecting to their album cover art for ‘Hey Ma’, which pictures a baby and a gun on the cover. The paper’s comments led to a ban from billboard advertising to promote the album.
Darren Hughes, the designer of the album art, later went on to issue a statement. “You need only to have a passing acquaintance with the headlines to be aware of the unfolding horror show of gun culture amongst kids in the UK. Whilst the media are quick to show condemnation, (its) their strong armed ‘climate of fear-inducing’ response”.
