Soul vocalist Jalen Ngonda has shared new single ‘If You Don’t Want My Love’.
The musician was brought up around Maryland, DC, but music took him across the Atlantic. Now rooted in the UK, his super smooth vocals have a timeless sense of soul, with his engaging approach bringing him into the orbit of revered NYC stable Daptone Records.
Debut single ‘What A Difference She Made’ / ‘Just Like She Used To’ showed his impeccable prowess, with Jalen taking time to build a follow-up.
Out now, new single ‘If You Don’t Want My Love’ is a smooth slice of down tempo soul, rooted in doo wop, beat ballads and aspects of 70s soul. The recipe is given a fresh twist, though, with Jalen Ngonda pouring his heart into every note.
Fresh from a packed out North American tour alongside labelmates – and long-time Clash favourites Thee Sacred Souls – he’s very much a force to be reckoned with in that soulful sphere.
