Birmingham, Alabama artist Jahnah Camille has today announced her debut EP, ‘i tried to freeze light, but only remember a girl‘, out June 21st via buzzy imprint Winspear.
Camille has emerged as a promising young talent whose collaged coming-of-age exploration of teen dreams, heartbreak and dissonant identity, has seen her support the likes of Clairo, Soccer Mommy, Cryogeyser and Wednesday on their respective tours.
With the EP announce comes new single, ‘flesh’, which takes thematic cues from 2018 romantic comedy About Time. Following the release of streaming hit ‘elliot’, Camille crafts a piece of lovelorn, finely-tuned indie-pop that tugs at the heartstrings.
She says of the track: “‘flesh’ is heavily inspired by the movie About Time and what it means to me. The movie is about a young guy who finds out the men in his family’s ability to time travel. He ultimately uses this ability to be mindful and live each day intentionally. The song is about my own relationship with intention.“
