Guitar slinger for hire Jack White has unveiled a new group, which will be called The Dead Weather.
The Detroit musician is already a member of The White Stripes and The Raconteurs, but is set to form another band. Back in his early days, White appeared on vinyl with pretty much every Detroit band going.
Since then he has become a world famous rock star, but seems to have no intentions of foregoing his busy schedule. In addition to The White Stripes, Jack White has released two albums with The Raconteurs and produced a number of artists, most notably Loretta Lynn.
The new group is set to feature The Kills’ Alison Mosshart, Dead Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age and The Greenhornes’ Jack Lawrence. Lawrence also plays with White in The Raconteurs.
The Dead Weather have apparently already recorded their debut album, which is to be named ‘Horehound’. A private showcase in Nashville saw the band unveiled before an audience that included White Stripes bandmate Meg White and singer Sheryl Crow.
In an interview with Associated Press the guitarist revealed that he didn’t intend The Dead Weather to become a full time concern. “The idea was to do a 7-inch single and be done with it, but we started writing songs and something happened,” he said.
The Dead Weather are set to release their debut album ‘Horehound’ later this year, with a tour planned to follow.
