Rock’s most profound workaholic Jack White has collaborated on a new single by Dex Romweber Duo.
Jack White really can’t sit still for longer than two minutes. Back in his Detroit days, White practically defined the garage scene with his guest slots, side projects and production duties. It was he, after all, who produced the seminal compilation ‘Sympathetic Sounds Of Detroit’.
Now ensconced in Nashville, the guitarist is still working hard. The White Stripes may be taking a breather – with Meg due to tie the knot soon – but Jack still has plenty to keep himself occupied with.
Aside from The Raconteurs, the guitarist recently unveiled his new group The Dead Weather featuring Alison Mosshart of The Kills on lead vocals. The band played a showcase set in White’s Third Man label offices recently, with Meg White giving the group her seal of approval. The Dead Weather are due to release their debut album later this year.
In a recent interview White claimed he would be working on numerous other projects, including plenty of new material and a possible film.
The new seven-inch features two songs recorded in White’s own studio in Nashville. Released on Third Man Records, it features Jack White playing guitar and bass, as well as singing and playing the saw. Yep, the saw.
Produced by White, the new single was engineered by Vance Powell who has also worked on albums by The Raconteurs, amongst others. The Detroit guitarist is apparently a life long fan of Romweber and has credited the one time Flat Duo Jets man with being a primary influence on The White Stripes.
Dex Romweber Duo will release their new 7-inch single ‘Last Kind Word Blues / The Wind Did Move’ later this month.
