Jack White Joins Business Council

Guitarist helms Nashville group

Rock’s biggest workaholic Jack White has added another job to his extensive list after joining the Music Business Council in his new home of Nashville.

Ever since his early days in Detroit, Jack White has enjoyed keeping busy. Touring America in a small van, the guitarist would fill his free time by running an upholstery business and producing records by other groups.

Jack White helmed the mixing desk for the seminal ‘Sympathetic Sounds Of Detroit’ compilation, which helped bring bands such as The Dirtbombs, The Von Bondies and many more to great prominence.

Now living in Nashville, White has three bands running continuously. The Raconteurs are on down time after last year’s album ‘Consolers Of The Lonely’ but the guitarist has already formed a new group – The Dead Weather – with Alison Mosshart on vocals, who will release their debut album ‘Horehound’ later this year.

However what everyone in the ClashMusic wants is more material by The White Stripes. Recently Jack White hinted that our wait could soon be over, confirming that the iconic two piece are set to head back into the studio.

In between doing all that the musician is set to join the 46 member board of the Music Business Council in Nashville, joining the likes of Emmylou Harris and Kix Brooks. According to Nashville Mayor Karl Dean the organisation was set up to protect the city’s heritage, and its brand name ‘Music City’.

“We are known to the world as ‘Music City'” Dean said, according to CNBC. “Not ‘The Athens of the South’ or ‘The Home of the Cumberland’ or whatever. And we need to protect our brand and our positioning as Music City, to keep creative people here and attract people to the city and help our tax base. We want to know what the city can do together with the music industry to help them succeed here.”

In additional to musicians The Music Business Council also includes producers, songwriters, agents, publishers and much more.
