Jack White Hits Out At Guitar Hero

Computer game is "depressing"

The White Stripes workaholic guitarist Jack White has revealed his disgust at the game ‘Guitar Hero’.

As far as embracing the future goes, Jack White is often to be seen running in the other direction. When new groups began embracing Pro Tools he simply hooked up with Toe Rag studios, which only uses vintage analogue equipment.

Always keen to side steps his fans expectations, Jack White formed The Dead Weather earlier this year. The band have already recorded their debut album ‘Horehound’ and at a recent show in Los Angeles were watched by Jimmy Page.

The former Led Zeppelin guitarist is one of the most influential musicians on the planet. Page combines technical dexterity with a great ear to produce some of the simplest yet most powerful riffs of all time.

Without doubt one of the most iconic heavy rock guitarists around, Jimmy Page recently joined Jack White in the film ‘It Might Be Loud’. An exploration of their love of the guitar, U2’s axe man The Edge completed a formidable trio.

Released in cinemas earlier this year, the film is due to get a wider DVD released over the summer. Speaking at a launch for ‘It Might Be Loud’ on June 19th, both Jack White and Jimmy Page were scathing about games such as ‘Guitar Hero’.

“It’s depressing to have a label come and tell you that (‘Guitar Hero’) is how kids are learning about music and experiencing music,” White said. He added that although he doesn’t try to dictate “which format people should get their music in…if you have to be in a video game to get in front of them, that’s a little sad.”

Jimmy Page also piped in, adding that he can’t imagine a game such as ‘Rock Band’ teaching the player about music.

“You think of the drum part that John Bonahm did on Led Zeppelin’s first track on the first album, ‘Good Times Bad Times’,” he said. “How many drummers in the world can play that part, let alone on Christmas morning?”

The Dead Weather are due to kick off their UK tour later this week.
