The past decade, though, has witnessed an enormous resurgence in the fortunes of the much loved format.
Jack White has led this charge, treating vinyl releases with renewed imagination. Giving his new solo album 'Lazaretto' a lavish wax edition, the record has broken sales records for a vinyl release.
Selling some 40,000 copies in the first week of release, 'Lazaretto' has become the fastest selling vinyl album since SoundScan began tracking data back in 1991.
