Jack White and Neil Young appear to have struck up a creative partnership.
Using Third Man studios as a base, rumours of a potential new album first emerged last year. Neil Young fan site Thrasher's Wheat previously reported that a collaborative project was in the works, focussing on cover versions of material precious to both artists.
Well, those rumours have been stirred up once again. American journalist Michael Goldberg claims that the covers record is almost complete – it will contain twelve songs and was recorded at Third Man last year.
Amongst the titles mooted for inclusion are Bert Jansch’s ‘Needle of Death’, Phil Ochs’ ‘Changes’, Bob Dylan’s ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’, Gordon Lightfoot’s ‘Early Morning Rain’ and more. (via FACT)
A source told Thrasher's Wheat: "It is an album of covers. In it, as anticipated, he pays tribute to other renowned singer-songwriters. There are 12 tracks on it. There are no Neil Young originals…"
Neil Young stopped past Jack White's recording booth last year to lay down a version of 'Needle Of Death' – watch it HERE.
