It’s Morrissey! With A Cat On His Head!

No seriously...

Well here’s something… Morrissey appears in a new PETA ad with a cat perched on his head.

Never let it be said that Morrissey can’t laugh at himself. Known for his often quite stern views on animal rights, the singer is the perfect choice for PETA’s new ad campaign.

The poster emphasises the need for spaying animals to stop unwanted reproduction, and features – logically enough – Morrissey looking all moody with a cat perched on his head. We’re serious too – find the poster o’er yonder. (via Pitchfork)

Here’s a quick message from Morrissey in support of the campaign:

“Despite the fact that they’re incredibly intelligent, animals unfortunately haven’t yet worked out how to slip on a rubber, which is why thousands of them are being put to sleep in overcrowded shelters and thousands more are desperately waiting to be adopted. Letting cats or dogs have litters is tantamount to shooting shelter animals in the head since it kills their chances of adoption. Please do the right thing and spay or neuter your animals.”

For now, here’s ‘Rubber Ring’.
