Issac Hayes Died Of Stroke

Soul Singer Treated For Blood Pressure

Soul legend Isaac Hayes died of a stroke, his physician Dr David Krauss has announced.

The singer was found dead at his home in Memphis on Sunday (August 10th) and although an autopsy has not yet been performed his physician believes it was due to a stroke. Hayes previously suffered a stroke in January 2006.

As part of the Hayes / Porter songwriting team the soul man wrote many of the era defining classics of Stax Records. Eventually given free reign by the label he turned himself into a star with a series of seminal albums, beginning with “Hot Buttered Soul” in 1969.

Its impact cannot be under estimated, being a touchstone for trip hop stars Portishead amongst countless others.

In later life, Hayes added his voice to some cartoon or other.
