Ishmael Ensemble will release new album ‘Rituals’ on September 6th.
The Bristol-rooted project was formed in 2017 by producer and saxophonist Pete Cunningham, initially pegged in the UK jazz bracket. Since then, the full breadth of their influences have become apparent – from left-field electronics to dub, via soul and beyond.
New album ‘Rituals’ is a widescreen experience, with opener ‘C’Mon’ benefiting from Holysseus Fly’s soulful verses, while ‘Ezekiel’ is a homage to soundsystem culture, so integral to Bristol’s creative identity.
New single ‘Madrid’ leads the way, an engrossing piece of sonic art with a painterly aspect to its composition.
Tune in now.
