Isa has decided to give away her new track ‘Kings Of Diamonds’ courtesy of Nike.
Better known as the Machine from Florence & The Machine, Isa has always pursued a solo career. Releasing countless tracks, the songwriter’s output is often difficult to maintain a firm grasp over.
Which why we want to flag up a new free download. ‘King Of Diamonds’ is as good an entrance point as any, with Isa fusing glitchy hip hop beats with a uniquely panoramic view of life in London.
The track is available as a free download to anyone who grabs a copy of Nike’s 1948 magazine via iTunes. Also contained is an interview with Isa, in which she reveals the inspiration behind the new track.
So what’s gone into this track, what are the ingredients?
First off a sample of some cheerleaders chanting “Go!, Fight!, Win!”, some drum samples, cut up and played in by me from my MPC 200XL, backed up with a classic old skool Hip Hop break that I chopped up in Tools, then programmed drums over the top with some bass from my Virus…
How would you say you’ve brought a London perspective to the track?
I am from London, and I make Hip Hop. I tried to make the beat a mixture of classic and club Hip Hop. In London we like to wear our hoods up, and listen to LOUS, dirty bass and party so I’ve tried to encapsulate both those elements into one beat.

Also on a Nike tip, the brand have unveiled their new Nike+ FuelBand. Measuring your movement and energy levels, the FuelBand uses four metrics: Time, Calories, Steps and NikeFuel.
Sporting icon Lance Armstrong was impressed. “What’s great about the idea of NikeFuel and the FuelBand is the way it provides real information and numbers to show how much people are doing all day, every day. That’s what will get people challenging themselves to do more and better their own scores. It’s a tool to get people more active.”
The Nike+ FuelBand will be exclusively available from Boxpark in limited quantities from the 30th March. It will then be available from NikeTown London from the 1st May.
