Acclaimed US songwriter Iron And Wine has announced the release of an EP of new material, due to touch down on these shores on June 2nd.
Signed to Transgressive in the UK, Iron And Wine combines folk influenced music with extremely poetic lyrics, often confronting topics that other songwriters would bypass. Real name Sam Beam, Iron And Wine worked in almost total exclusion for seven years before the head of legendary US indie label Sub Pop phoned the singer personally to propose a deal.
The new EP will be titled “Lovesong Of The Buzzard” and will contain material not issued with the singer’s 2007 album “The Shepherd’s Dog”. Iron And Wine is part way through a world tour, and will play many European venues this summer. Sadly for UK fans, the only British date is at Wales’ exemplary Green Man festival. Coincidentally, you can grab a free Green Man CD on the front cover of this month’s astounding issue of Clash Magazine.
