Members of Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem have revealed their latest project New Build.
DFA has always seemed more like a shared ideal than a record label. The bands on the roster appear to be close knit, sharing bills and providing some typically forward thinking remixes.
Now Al Doyle (Hot Chip and once upon a time LCD) and Felix Martin from Hot Chip (once signed to DFA in the States, fact fans) have joined forces with studio engineer Tom Hopkins to collaborate on their latest project New Build.
Based in London, the communal vibe extends into the recording studio. More of a drop in centre for creative types, the studio housed recent sessions from the collective with New Build preparing their debut 12 inch.
‘Misery Loves Company’ will be released on the band’s own label Lanark Recordings. Available from November 28th, the DFA theme is enhanced by some show-stopping guest appearances by Planningtorock while former LCD member Pat Mahoney was also on hand.
Available on limited edition vinyl, only 500 copies will get pressed with Andy Martin supplying the hand crafted artwork. Stream snippets from ‘Misery Loves Company’ below…
