Rising New York talent Gambles has signalled plans to release his debut album.
Musicians in New York are almost crushed by the weight of what's gone before them. A hub for musical invention across the decades, the city has acted as base for Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed and countless other seminal talents.
For Gambles, though, that lineage acted as something comforting. Judging himself against pivotal talents, the rising songwriter found solace in their work. "All my favorite music sends me somewhere new" he explained recently. "I wanted to make music like that. I didn’t know how but I knew I could know how. It was like a pat on the shoulder when I was doing so miserably all those years, when I’d fail… it’d be like, 'Not right now. But you will.'"
Carefully honing his work, Gambles is now ready to unveil his debut album. Out on his own GMBLS imprint, distribution comes from Secretly Canadian with 'Trust' set to arrive on September 30th.
