Indigo Sparke has laid out plans for new album ‘Hysteria’.
The material on the record was sculpted during a Major Life Event, with the Australian-born songwriter moving back to New York in 2021. The music seemed to pour endlessly out of her, these dreamy yet pointed, highly emotional vignettes.
The National’s Aaron Dessner was recruited to produce, with the full album set to land on October 7th via Sacred Bones. According to Indigo, the two hit it off immediately: “I just had a really strong intuitive gut feeling that I would do this album with Aaron. We had met once years before in Eau Claire so I asked my manager to reach out to him.”
She adds: “When we first talked, we talked about co-writing from scratch, I did have a big folder of demos but was nervous to share them, but after he heard them he said, ‘There’s so much to work with in here already’.'”
New song ‘Pressure In My Chest’ illustrates the artistry to come – subtle yet bold, the minimalist palette seems to heighten the intensity of Indigo Sparke’s lyric, and her empathetic vocal.
“In the birth of memory, there is the eternal moment of time. All things exist here. Through night dreams and wishes, and hot tears and laughing stars, I carried myself to the desert to traverse the landscape of history and reconcile the ever present ‘Pressure In My Chest’.”
A beautiful piece of songwriting, it comes backed with an intimate new video – check it out now.
