Indie Stores Team Up

Coalition Of Record Stores Announced

Fans of local independent record stores will be buoyed by the news that many of the UK’s largest indie stores have banded together to form a new group – The Coalition Of UK Indie Stores.

The new group will fight for the rights of small independent traders, and contains an initial 15 stores. Amongst the first to join is the legendary Rough Trade store – part of the label which launched The Smiths, amongst many others.

An American idea which has made the trans-atlantic journey, The Coalition Of UK Record Stores may well be the first sign of a fight back against the massive high street retailers.

To celebrate the launch of the group, Saturday 19th April has been declared “Record Store Day” in the UK.
