Iggy Pop has shared his explosive new single ‘Frenzy’.
The Godfather of Punk still chafes at any attempt to bind him, with his recent work moving from rock bedlam to French language jazz. 2016’s ‘Post Pop Depression’ was cherished by fans, while subsequent shows featured Iggy at his unruly best.
As a contrast, 2019’s ‘Free’ saw the artist on more sombre, introspective form, guided by ambient musician Noveller.
Switching it up once more, his new era seems to be a return to punk hosanna, with new song ‘Frenzy’ erupting out of the speakers with a childish grin on its face. Producer and guitarist Andrew Watt is his foo, while Duff McKagan (bass) and Chad Smith (drums) fill out a truly legendary band.
A seismic four-piece, it’s spearheaded by Iggy Pop’s incredible vocal, embodying raw power in all its feral forms.
There’s much more to come, too – tune in below.
