Iceage musician Elias Rønnenfelt will release new solo album ‘Heavy Glory’ on October 25th.
The record has its roots in the strange Spring of 2022, a period when the pandemic seemed to be receding, but people didn’t quite have confidence to interact. Hitting the road, Elias Rønnenfelt decided to construct an ad hoc tour, playing in impromptu spaces across Europe.
A rejection of pandemic controls, these DIY shows saw him reconnect with a community, writing songs along the way. Ideas came and went, and the best of these were gathered on a new album, pieced together with Nis Bysted.
“I’ve done this so many times,” Rønnenfelt explains, “but capturing and crystallising an album remains a singular ritual, just with different circumstances. We are capturing something that is hard to hold down.”
Out on October 25th, the album is trailed by new single ‘No One Else’ – there’s a kind of spartan, deeply skewed take on Americana in the sonic palette, with the singular voice of Elias Rønnenfelt driving it forward.
The self-directed video features the Danish artist riding a horse in the Wyoming plains, wandering the Las Vegas strip, and floating down a lazy river.
Tune in now.
