Music legend and iconic Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis’ gravestone has been stolen, police have announced.
The memorial to the deceased singer was stolen from a cemetery in Macclesfield. The gravestone is visited by numerous fans, who wish to pay their respects to one of British music’s most iconic figures.
Ian Curtis led Joy Division for two stunning albums, before sadly committing suicide when the band were on the brink of success. The headstone is adorned with the title of the group’s last single – “Love Will Tear Us Apart”. This sickening theft has shocked those in the music community, with police left to appeal for witnesses as there are no CCTV cameras in the area.
The singer was survived by his wife, Deborah Curtis, and a daughter, Natalie. Anyone with any information, obviously, should contact the police.
