Ian Brown Single Plans

Singer wants Eminem taught in schools

Manchester musical icon Ian Brown has confirmed plans to release his new single ‘Just Like You’ on November 30th.

Ian Brown is one of the most iconic frontmen of his generation. As lead singer with The Stone Roses he helped bring together dance with rock, effortlessly blending styles and helping a generation to party.

Now working on his own, the singer returned this year with his introspective new album ‘My Way’. Featuring Ian Brown looking over his own career, the record contained many subtle – and not so subtle – references to The Stone Roses.

Touring widely, Ian Brown is due to release ‘Just Like You’ as his new single. The track is taken from his recent album, and will be available as a digital download, CD and 12 inch with a number of exclusive remixes planned.

The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett is due to step behind the production desk for a radical reworking of the track.

In addition to this, Ian Brown has spoken about his inspirations. The singer has argued in a new interview that he would show young kids in schools movies such as ‘8 Mile’ and ‘Get Rich Or Die Trying’.

“There’s not enough about working class kids getting on in life, the working class got cut out of history, and we can’t let that happen” the singer claimed.

Ian Brown told Mojo Magazine that “I think all kids should be made to watch the Biggie Smalls film (‘Notorious’), the Eminem story (‘8 Mile’) and the 50 Cent film (‘Get Rich Or Die Tryin’).”

“I met Biggie Smalls in September 1995 and it was mega. He was like something out of the Bible, talking in parables, and he looked like an old ’20s jazz star. Some days I have to pinch myself that I met him.”

Ian Brown is set to release his new single ‘Just Like You’ on November 30th.
