Ian Brown has shared new single ‘Rules’.
The Stone Roses frontman went solo with 2019 album ‘Ripples’, crafted alongside his son. A family affair, the album was disrupted by the pandemic, which Ian Brown had some strong opinions about.
Since then, he’s launched an opinion-splitting UK tour. Some fans were shocked by his use of backing tracks, with one punter writing: “I’m a life long fan but it was bad. Ian Brown does karaoke and butchers his own tunes. Most were too pissed to care but I had to get out after this one.”
That said, the tour was a sold out success, and Ian Brown has now shared a blast of new material.

Out now, ‘Rules’ takes umbrage with the system, the horn-laden track lashing out at the status quo.
Akira The Don calls it an “instant classic” while one fan pointed out that Ian Brown shadowed the lyrics during a decade-old interview.
Tune in now.
